Trimble’s Tekla 2022 software solutions enable more sustainability…

Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) today announced the release of the latest versions of its Tekla® software solutions for building information modeling (BIM), structural engineering and steel fabrication management: Tekla Structures 2022, Tekla Structural Designer 2022, Tekla Tedds2022 and Tekla PowerFab 2022. With the introduction, Trimble continues to advance the constructible process, which offers significant improvements in productivity, efficiency and construction quality. The latest Tekla software supports sustainable construction and offers more automated and connected workflows across all project phases and all stakeholders.

Sustainable design choice

Building on Trimble’s commitment to sustainable workflows, Tekla Structures and Tekla Structural Designer now offer dynamic embodied carbon calculation functionality for both design and detailing processes via a carbon calculator incorporated. This visual and dynamic calculation tool allows users to quickly and transparently assess the environmental implications of their design choices live in Tekla software. Structural engineers can use it to compare different design options and their respective carbon loads.

Environmental professionals within design teams can also rely on Tekla’s existing integration with OneClick LCA’s purpose-built carbon calculator for Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) reporting. The combination of Tekla software’s buildable data with One Click LCA and its extensive EPD database enables the calculation of the embodied carbon emissions of materials in a design, down to each nut, bolt or rebar, for the whole of their life cycle.

Tekla Structures 2022

Tekla Structures version 2022 structural BIM software improves the design-to-manufacturing workflow with in-product intelligence to create manufacturing drawings, reducing the time spent creating and modifying drawings. For the concrete detailing industry, the new Tekla Structures introduces rebar connections (rebar). Primarily used in Design for Fabrication and Assembly (DfMA) workflows, this new feature enhances Tekla’s portfolio of automated item fabrication tools. Another new feature in the 2022 version of Tekla Structures is the inclusion of an Embodied Carbon Calculator extension, providing dynamic calculations and visualization of the CO2 impact of structural design choices to Tekla Structures users.

Tekla Structural Designer 2022

The Embodied Carbon Calculator functionality which was already introduced for Tekla Structural Designer in 2021, has been further enhanced for displaying, reporting and sharing carbon data. Using Tekla Structural Designer, structural engineers can, in the first phase of schematic design, calculate the embodied carbon of various alternative proposals, optimizing design and materials to produce a low-carbon design. Related information is easy to communicate from the software via reports, charts and data export.

Tekla Tedds 2022

To improve collaborative design-to-detail workflows, Tekla Tedds structural design software now makes it easy to share structural design information and documentation through the Trimble Connect® collaboration platform. The latest version also includes new calculations and updates to existing calculations for faster and more reliable structural element design.

Tekla Power Fab 2022

Tekla PowerFab 2022 steel fabrication management software suite solves a common engineering problem with improved nesting and material management for joining and splitting. With a simplified system implementation, new customers can enjoy a smoother migration path from their manufacturing management information (MIS) solution to Tekla PowerFab. This avoids tedious manual work and allows you to use the new system with confidence, as data from previous projects is automatically saved, as needed. The software also provides improved visibility and control with a new shipping schedule in the web-based Tekla PowerFab Go.
